U11 - Rob Rutko - as presented by Ryan Brown on behalf of Rob
First off a great season, over 250 games played and enjoyed by all.
12 teams played 22 games each. 1 thru 4 played in a mini tournament in Swift with Shaunavon coming out on top and 5 thru 8 played a mini tournament in Herbert with SC Mavericks pulling thru.
A sincere and special thanks to all the coaches and managers without your commitment none of these games would happen. Your dedication and devotion to the kids is critical for their development in becoming athletes and just all around good kids.
To the refs a huge huge thank you. Without you these games don’t happen.
A great job was done by all.
To the parents Thank you. your time and dedication is unmeasurable.
I once read a sign 25 years ago that said your child’s success or lack of success does not indicate what kind of parent you are but having an athlete that is coachable, respectful and great teammate is mentally tough and tries their hardest is a direct reflection of your parenting.
Suspension to Maple Creek #18 Konner Wasilow for 1 game at start of 24/25 season
In closing a few updates that a commissioner would like to see

Cell phone numbers for all contacts on the team put on the website.

Score sheets texted immediately after the game. Thanks and have a great summer.

U13 - Gaetan Girardin - as presented by Ryan Brown on behalf of Gaetan

The U13 division had great season. With 11 teams in this division, the top 8 made playoffs and the bottom 3 teams decided not to play any relegation games. The final round was played between Wood River and Gravelbourg with Wood River winning in 3 games to become SSHL U13 Champs. Had 2 players get a 1 game suspension each, 1 coach with a 1 game suspension and 2 other coaches with 2 game suspension each. The only concerns was trying to fit in the first round of playoff games and provincial games during the February break. Other than that the season was a success.

U15 -Cole Labbee - sent via email by Cole
Everything went pretty good for the most part this year, no real scheduling issues. I would recommend the Coaches have conversations with kids a bit more about their language on the ice to avoid those lengthy suspensions (Rule 11 Maltreatement)

U18 - Neil Block - as presented by Ryan Brown on behalf of Neil

Generally, the U18 teams had a good season. Congratulations to Wood River for winning the League Championship in a tough series vs Assiniboia. Also, congratulations to Wood River (Lafleche) and Maple Creek for winning their respective Provincial Playoffs. We had many strong teams from our league competing in Provincials this year. It is great to see this calibre of hockey in SW Sask.
I was able to watch all teams throughout the season and it was good to see everyone play with intensity. That intensity showed up on the gamesheets, albeit in different columns. There were 32 games worth of suspensions this season, given to 14 players and 2 coaches. All suspensions were handed out in accordance to the handbook with no extra games added. I did my best to follow the handbook and league rules and regulations to the letter and treat all teams and players fairly.
All the best to the players who have completed their last season of minor hockey, good luck in the future. Thank you to the coaches & officials who made the season possible.

There was discussion about some of the challenges such as less flexibility to coordinate road trips and back-to-back home games to help with scheduling referees in smaller centers.

- Advice from Tracey about the system, review tutorial, have 2 people for the scheduling meeting and planning your calendar in advance.
Also discussion about having a hybrid system where there was room to schedule using the program but meeting in person to facilitate back and forth discussions. TBD.

- Each team needs to come to the scheduling meeting with a minimum of 20 ice times or they will not be allowed to schedule games. (motion: Gravelbourg, second: Lafleche)

  1. 4)  Proposed change to SSHL Constitution

    - change timeframe and responsibility for reporting when there is a misconduct or penalty requiring immediate action; currently reads the “referee shall report to the President” and “by noon the next day” and proposed change is “the home team official (coach or manager) shall report to the division commissioner” and “immediately following the game, no later than midnight, subject to a $50 fine”. (motion: Assiniboia, second: Cabri)
